China is a very large country with widely varying landscapes. Its territory includes mountains, deserts and forests. China is the home of one of the oldest civilizations in the world, but it has only recently become a "modern" nation. It has changed faster than any other country of the world in the last 20 years. China has more people than any other country on Earth, and its population is 1.3 billion. Many experts predict that the 21st century will be the "Chinese century".
The city we live in is situated on border with China, and just across the river there is a Chinese town.

     April is the fourth month of the year. No one really knows how it got its name. Some people think that the name "April" came from a Latin word meaning "the opening". In fact, the Greeks called the season of spring  'the opening'. In the Northern Hemisphere spring officially starts on March 21. But it is in April when plants begin to appear and early spring flowers burst into bloom.

It's Never Fair Weather

I do not like the signs of spring,

The fever and the chills.

The icy mud, the puny bud,

The frozen daffodils.

Let other poets gaily sing;

I do not like the signs of spring.
