Today is the first day of the New Year on the Chinese lunar calendar. Each year of the calendar's 12-year cycle is represented by an animal. According to the Chinese zodiac, people born during a given year share traits with that animal. 2012 is the year of the dragon. Those born under this year are supposed to be innovative, passionate, brave, self-assured, scrutinizing, flexible, and fun-loving.

What is Zodiac?
The word ZODIAC comes both from Greek and Latin. It means 'circle of figures' or 'cicle of life'.
Each year of the Chinese Zodiac is represented by a different animal: the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. The five elements are assigned to the 12 animals (years), giving different characteristics to each animal (year). Assigning each of the five elements to the 12 years creates 60 different combinations that results in a 60-year cycle.
Each animal is known to have certain characteristics that a person born under the sign would demonstrate. The year a person is born determines their animal sign.Animal Personality Traits
