Buranovskiye Babushki to represent Russia in Baku

Tonight, the Russian national selection took place in the concert hall Academic, Moscow. 25 talented artists fought for the honour to represent Russia in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. Buranovskiye Babushki won the hearts of the TV viewers and jurors with their song Party For Everybody! Thus, they scored the highest number of points and won the Russian national final.

The band Buranovskiye Babushki consists of eight grandmothers. They are originally from the Udmurt Republic, from the village of Buranovo. The band performs most of their entries in their Udmurt language, and tonight they sang Party For Everybody. The lyrics of this song were written by the grannies themselves.
Russia will take part in the First Semi-Final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest on Tuesday 22nd May in Baku.
