Этот праздник отмечают и в Великобритании и в России, и во многих странах мира, где есть христиане. По-русски он называется "Пасха", а по-английски - "Easter". Но празднуют его по-разному, и в разное время.
Наши друзья из Великобритании будут отмечать Пасху в воскресенье 8 апреля. Ребятишки очень любят этот праздник, потому что в этот день их ждут необычные сюрпризы и приключения. В шкафу, в столе, в кровати, и даже в школьном портфеле детишки могут найти шоколадные фигурки кроликов или шоколадные яйца. Кстати, пасхальный кролик, которого зовут Банни - любимый сказочный персонаж многих ребятишек.

Dear Russian Friends,
Happy Easter!! Just a last quick note before we leave on vacation. Easter
is either for children or for the very religious. For children, we put together a basket with colored eggs, chocolates, jelly beans, and a toy Easter Bunny or Duck. We color the eggs with many different dyes that are available at the grocery store. I also used to boil onions and other things I can't remember to color the eggs but now the dyes are so convenient. It seems I remember we also used to use vinegar in the coloring to make sure the color set.

Many people hold Easter egg hunts for the children and whoever finds the golden egg, gets a special prize. When I was little, the prize was a real bunny or duck! I never found the golden egg! This year, since we will be up at the lake with Ted and Patty, so Tom and I decided to do something childish for them. We got a couple of baskets, filled them with jelly beans and chocolates, and a bunny for Patty and a frog for Ted! It makes me laugh to see what their reaction will be..."

У нас в России 8 апреля будет Вербное воскресенье, а Пасха наступит через неделю - 15 апреля. У многих россиян украшением дома станут веточки вербы и крашеные яйца и куличи. Так называют особый праздничный хлеб - очень вкусный и очень красивый. В день Пасхи люди приветствуют друг друга очень необычными словами: "Христос Воскрес!", а в ответ говорят "Воистину воскрес!" В этот день многие люди идут в церковь.

They eat lamb, chicken, pork, bread, and Easter cake. Easter Sunday is a happy day of eating and visiting. In Russia, pussy willow branches are picked especially for Easter. People tap each other with them for good luck.
